St. Edward, King and Martyr

Holy Martyr and King Edward, pray to God for us! Here’s an article on him from Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edward_the_MartyrAnd here is the service (Eastern Rite) to St. Edward: http://www.orthodoxengland.btinternet.co.uk/serstedw.htm

I wonder who produced this one: https://horologion.files.wordpress.com/2008/03/a-edward2.jpg

I like it very much. I’m not sure why, it doesn’t look like any icon I own.

May the prayers of St. Edward preserve us! And through his prayers, may God raise up an Orthodox monarch in out time!

Eric, did I tell you that Bp Basil once gave me a piece of the cloth which had been wrapped around St. Edward’s relics? Apparently, by an agreement with the Crown, the monks who guard the relics are not allowed to give away portions of them; they must keep them intact. So as an alternative, they replace the cloth wrapped around the relics each year, and they give out portions of that cloth as secondary relics. I’ll give you a piece when you visit sometime.

    Hey Happy Easter!

Would you be willing to shoot me an email (I don’t see any contact info ony our blog)? I used to blog at the College Catholic blog and I remember you commented on my posting about Czar Nicholas and Russia the other year. I have some questions about Orthodoxy/attending a divine liturgy.

PS-I think we are both in the same state (WI).

Thank you for posting all these wonderful icons of St. Edward the Martyr.

I have always felt a closeness to him, and am blessed enough to have the first icon you posting hanging on my wall.

What a beautiful variety of icons of St. Edward the Martyr. I hope that one day it won’t be too unfamiliar to have icons of pre-schism western saints such as St. Edward the Martyr on our Church walls.

I am being Chrismated Edward on Jan. 1 and would very much like an icon of St. Edward. I have found a couple of these prints for sale, but where can I find mounted copies of these images?
